Together with York’s Centre for Refugee Studies, EUCE York is pleased to present a lecture by Dr. Martin Geiger, a Visiting Scholar at Carleton’s Centre for European Studies, entitled “Managing Migration at the Rim of Europe” on Tuesday, November 29th. This talk will be held in room 519 York Research Tower (building #95 on the map found here) from 12:30 to 2:00 pm and is presented in the context of the series EUCE Lectures on EU Law and Governance.

Dr. Geiger, a visiting scholar at the Centre for European Studies at Carleton University, will discuss the interplay between EU institutions and non-EU actors, such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as well as non-EU countries in the field of external EU migration policies and migration-related activities. His talk will give particular attention to these issues in relation to Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ukraine.

Dr. Geiger is a senior fellow with IMIS, one of Germany’s leading migration institutes (University of Osnabrück). His areas of expertise cover human cross-border mobility, international cooperation, EU integration, and the nexus of migration (politics) and development (politics).Geiger previously worked at other research centers in Berlin, Granada (Spain), Florence (Italy) and Timisoara (Romania).
